The New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club (NOLTC) recently commemorated its 148th anniversary with a grand celebration that brought together past and present members. The event, themed "Time After Time," echoed the timeless spirit of this historic institution, which holds the distinction of being the oldest tennis club in the Americas. Before the main festivities began, attendees were serenaded by Frank Sinatra's classic tunes, setting a nostalgic tone for the evening. The management team meticulously organized the event, ensuring every detail was perfect.

A highlight of the evening was the one-hour reception hosted by club president Elizabeth Brinson, honoring past presidents and current board members. This intimate gathering allowed for meaningful conversations and reflections on the club's rich history. Following the reception, guests moved to the main party area, where they marveled at the newly renovated first floor of the clubhouse. The Eric Merchant Trio provided a delightful musical backdrop, enhancing the festive atmosphere. As the night progressed, the second-floor space known as "The 1876" became the hub of activity, adorned in hunter green and ivory decor. The annual Louisiana Consular Corps Christmas Party welcomed 26 consuls general, consuls, and honorary consuls, along with their guests. Hosted by Rodolphe Sambou, Consul General of France, the gathering celebrated Louisiana's deep-rooted French heritage. Thibodeaux’s Floral Studio decorated the dining room table with an elegant arrangement of red roses and platters of delectable bites, adding to the festive ambiance. Notables from various countries, including the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, and more, raised a glass to the enduring ties between their nations and Louisiana. The presence of former Rex James Reiss and a prominent photo of French President Emmanuel Macron further highlighted the global significance of this event.

In a separate yet equally noteworthy celebration, the Sociedad Espanola marked its golden jubilee with a lavish Christmas banquet at the Metairie Country Club. The venue was transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with Spanish flags and gold-themed decorations. Society president Vivian D. Coutin opened the evening, followed by remarks from Honorary Consul of Spain Maria Isabel Page. The society honored its dedicated members with a special 50th-anniversary award, recognizing five decades of promoting Spanish culture and traditions. A PowerPoint presentation showcased memorable moments from the organization's history, including visits by Spanish royalty. Attendees received commemorative pins and danced to the music of Julio y Cesar, making the night unforgettable.
